Questions about my TA
Questions about my TA
My 92 TA/WS6 is one of 94 with a 5speed. It is also QUASAR BLUE which I have heard is a rare color.
Should I modify this car very much or leave it alone for the most part?
About the only thing I don't have original for this car is the window sticker. I have everything else BUILD SHEET/OWNERS MANUAL/CARDS etc.
I have been thinking about replacing the 305 with a 350, but obviously this car is gonna be worth something eventually and I would hate to have ruined it.
Your opinions please.

Modifying a car this rare, IMO, is akin to kissing your sister....NOT A GOOD IDEA
Then again, I tend to lean more towards restifying versus modifying. Even my highly non-collectible 2.8 '89 RS I like to keep stock, save for a few bolt on engine mods and a fancy stereo.
If I was you, and I had this car, I would leave it bone stock and take good care of it. This car is too rare to mess with.
Still not sure? Consider this...5 years from now, you want to sell this car, and someone is in the market for a nice 3rd gen. Which are they gonna be more likely to buy? A clean original or one someone has messed with? (Not that I'm trying to insult any modification ideas you may have
)
I'd bet many people would rather have a clean original, especially as it gets older and rarer. I know I would! Just my .02 though...

BTW, I love Quasar blue and 5 speeds...if you wanna sell it in another year or so, gimme a call
Thanks for the quick response.
The car only has 71xxx miles on it.
Only thing I've changed on it is FLOWMASTER exhaust. I also ported the plenum and did the TB bypass.
I think I'm just gonna rebuild and modify the 305 in it.
Sorry but I won't be selling this car anytime soon. I only paid 7000 for it.
It's a WS6 with 3.42 rear and dual cats as well
I like it alot.

I like it alot. 92T/AWS6, I feel the same way since I have a 92 also and it,s a 1LE so what I am doing is hidden mods like the 1s you stated plus roller rockers, tuning you get the picture,if you decide to put the 350 save the 305,if you rebuild the 305 mod it on the inside.

mont1le,
How rare is a Pontiac 1LE? Aside from a 4th gen, I've never seen a Pontiac 1LE.

JasonE, go to www.1LE.net and go to the 1LE numbers section it has a breakdown on all 1LEs both Pontiac and Chevy all years.
But according to their numbers Mine is 1 of 9.

I find it interesting what people pay for these f-body cars. It's really hard to figure out the pricing. For example, you paid $7g for a 92 WS6 5spd with 71xxx miles. Sounds like a desirable car. My guess is that if you saw that car in Hemmings the price would be substantially higher. [BTW, I agree with those who say leave it stock].
Last month I bought my 1992 Firebird convertible with the exact same mileage on it, 71k. It's not a WS6 and not a manual transmission. But it is a 305, it has nice options, it's nice and tight, and of course the top goes down. I paid $5g for it.
My guess is that in both cases, there are people on this list who will say to each of us "you stole that car." My response is that I'M usually the one saying that and it's nice to be on the lucky end for a change!
