To anyone searching for a TTA....

I didn't want to put this in the classifieds, because I am not the one selling it.

But a Chevy dealer in Western, Ma has a 67 mile, documented 20th TTA. Supposedly it has all documentation, and the price is $23,900. Being one of the ultimate 3rd gens, I just thought I'd pass it along.

If anyone wants the phone # or address, I'd be happy to post it.

Its a nice car and all but why would you pay $20,000 somethin for a 3rd gen? I love mine to death but I would rather have a new Z28. So why would you get that TA over a new TA? Just my opinion. But Im sure no one cares

Monkie,

A TTA is an instant collectors item...1500 made, 20th anniversary, pace car, special 3.8 turbo engine, and SIXTY SEVEN miles!! What's not to love about this car, especially for a third gen enthusiast?

A new Z28 is, more or less, just another car. Nothing unique about it....anyone who would rather have a new Z28 just doesn't understand the cache of the TTAs, and how simply awesome and unique they are.

Plus, they ae faster than the new TA's, get better mileage and better looking. That's a good deal on this car. Wish I had the money to get another one.

Mileage isn't anything unless that is what you are in the market for. Age has just as much influence as mileage. I would buy a newer car with more milage just as I would an older car with less. Mileage does not affect me. 23,000 is way to much. For a car that is 11 years old, and only 63 miles, this car is probably is POOR shape from the lack of driving (unless it was proressionaly stored). 15,000-17,000 for a MINT TTA is more acceptable. Just my $.02, but I'm hard to please I guess.

Does it have cloth w/no T's? Those are the ones you want to get! Only made a hand full of those. Ones w/T's and leather are the norm.

The problem with buying something like that, is that if you drove it, you'd greatly reduce its value...because it then would become another old car (though a unique one).

I believe a car is to be driven and driven as many miles as you can. Something like that TTA would only retain its value if you left it parked in the garage. I'd rather buy a higher mileage TTA that hasn't been abused. Then I wouldn't have any remorse when I drove it.

I think it would be a killer car for like a personal show room right next to a 69 SS, 87 Black IROC, the TT/A, and then have a dead dogged mustang in the corner just to put it down Now thats what Im talkin bout!

Oh I got a question. I have only seen the TTAs in white. Was that the only color?

The car is white with leather and t's. Monkie, all TTAs were white with camel interior.

I didn't say I agreed with the price, but then again, I don't agree with the price of a new TA either. I'd spend 23k on the '89 TTA before I'd spend 30k on a new TA, thats for damn sure.

I am more than willing to bet that you could get the car for $20k or so...whether it's worth it or not is up to everyone's indidivual opinion. My opinion is that I'll spend $20k on a unique car, and what could be dubbed the ultimate 3rd gen (if there is such a thing!!) before I'd spend more on a new one...sure, new ones are sweet cars...but they just aren't the same

All TTA's are white with gold wheels, camel interior. Most had leather but some have cloth. If you get one that does not have t-tops then it is not a Indy Pace Car(does not meat the requirements of a pace car).

It will take more money to get a new TA into the 11's than it would the TTA. If you do it right. Not the way I did it!

A turbocharged car can out accellerate a naturally aspirated car for the simple fact that the faster it goes, the harder the air is forced down the intake. A simple intercooler can add 25-75 horsepower. Tell me it's not FAST!

Tell me it's not worth money...

1. Pace car
2. 1500 made
3. Turbo
4. Less than 100 miles

Tell you what - I'll buy it and I promise I'll sell it to one of you guys for the market price in 15 years. Think it will be worth over $20,000? You bet you *** !!!

I was lucky enough to see Steve Ames' (from Ames Performance Parts) collection of classic cars (mostly Pontiac) and let me tell you that he'll probably have that car sitting in his garage before you know it. He had every year Trans Am from '69 to '79 and every one had less that 9,000mi on them. Most had less than 5,000. I was in shock. He had 3 of the most incedible SD-455's I have ever seen. He had 10 GTO's, 3 Boss 429 Mustangs and some of his cars were 1 of 4 or 1 of 10.

Summary... It's worth money... PERIOD!

You aren't going to find any of the 3 actual pace cars driving down the road. There were a lot of "festival" cars driven around by bigwigs during the race.

If nobody has seen a TTA in other than white I'll post a pic when mine is repainted...it's going to be black. I've got a source to do the door decals in gold to match the wheels.

Call Year One (or go to yearone.com...I think) and order the "Next Generation Restoration and Performance Parts" catalog...its for 3rd and 4th gens, and it has TTA logos.
