there was 3915 yellow 86 camaros made. And there was over 192,000 camaros made in 86. so would you think that they are kind of rare. Its less than 2%

But you have to be careful when you talk about rarity. Just because something is rare doesn't mean it's desireable or collectable.

The best example of this concerns my 67 Firebird convertible. It is very rare to find one with column shift and a bench seat. I know they made very few column shifts, and I've never seen a bench seat first gen firebird firsthand. Despite this rarity, however, such cars are no prized by collectors.

Not to say that a yellow third-gen isn't both rare AND desirable, however...:-)

92GTA,

He said kind of rare, not all out rare. I dare say a color that consisted of less than 2% of that year's production is kind of rare!

Is it 1 of 18? No...but that doesn't keep it from being a somewhat unique car.

I know my car isn't worth anymore just because there was just a certain amout made. Most people don't like yellow cars. But it is kind of neat that not that many were made.

Hey Matthew,
Where did you find out specific numbers on color for a particular year? I was under the impression that numbers beyond total production don't exsist.

92GTA,
You can't officially say you're car is 1 of 18 (super rare) either. GM's documentation wasn't kept up enough to narrow your car that low. Based on estimating percentages, it could theoretically be 1 of 18, But could also be 1 of 50, based on options.

The yellow car is rare. Is it worth anything? Only to somebody that wants a yellow 3rd gen Camaro. Rarity is based on quantity. Break down his car with the color and options and model type and he could have a 1 in 18 also!!

Matt,
Does it matter? Are you going to keep it for 25 years and sell it to someone who will trailor it to a car show and say it's rare so it's cool? It's cool now. Enjoy it.

92GTA's GTA IS 1 of 18 made in the green. They didnt make more than 226 GTA's in total for 92. That is a number from Pontiac. I would like to know how many Jamaica Yellow GTA's were made in 92......

Hey guys.

Rarity doesn't matter too much. We all have great cars. Or why else would we be talking here. Camaro's and Trans Ams are the best!

I've personally seen a Yellow 92 GTA and I must say that is not all that cool. If it were closer to Porsche yellow yeah, way cool, but it's not, it's like a banna yellow and kinda nasty in certain light....
