I'm with monkie on this one. ZERO! I think the LT1 made it's debut in 1992 in the vette.

I agree with the others. There never was an LT1 in the 3rd Gen F-bodies. The LT1 made its debut in the 1992 Corvette and were installed in F-bodies in 1993 for the 4th Gen's debut.

Because...someone put an LT1 in the car, and the dealer must like Black 91 Z's?

Sorry Black. But if it has an LT1, then it was swapped in. Your car DEFINITELY did not come stock with it. Check you engine RPO codes on the SPID sticker (its generally located on the back of the "lockiing storage box" lid in the driver's side rear of the car in the "trunk" area.

If the SPID is missing, then that tells you something, as no one generally removes that unless they have something to hide. If it is there, then check for the engine code. Trust me, you won't find "LT1". Most likely you will see either L98 (TPI 350 V8), LB9 (TPI 305 V8), L03 (TBI 305 V6) or LHO (MPFI 3.1 V6). Those were the ONLY engines available in 3rd Gen F-bodies in 1991.

Or you can check your VIN code as to which engine came in it. The 8th digit will correspond to the following engines: "T" (3.1 V6), "E" (TBI 305), "F" (TPI 305) or "8" (TPI 350).

I sure hope you didn't pay good money for this car, believing you bought something rare. Hell, your car might have been a "3.1 RS" and its been dressed up (faked) to look like a Z28. Double check for that RPO code too, while you are at it.

You wouldn't believe the arguement I got into over ICQ with some knuckle-head over his 87 IROC that came stock with an LT1. His dad had an 87 Vette with the LT1 too. I even talked to the idiot's father who supposidly works at GM and can back up what his kid was saying. Idiots. Every one of them. The only possible position that guy could have at GM would be on the janitorial staff.

Unless the kid's father worked in R&D and they got a "secret test mule", which I highly doubt. But THEN, the father would have said that as he would KNOW that a "secret test mule" is not a STOCK car.

I only point this out as in the "History of the Chevrolet Small Block", on of the sources discussed how they drove around in a 1953 Chev Bel-Air that had a test production SBC in it for road testing the SBC prior to its debut in 1955. But that was NOT a stock car, it was a "test mule".

Why it is that people seem to mistake an L98 for an LT1, I will never understand. Maybe it's wishful thinking....

Are you even sure you have an LT1? Pop quiz...where's the distributor mounted??

I think Monkie is trying to get the "all time high" for the most posts. Give up, Drew is WAYYYY out in front. And Dirk will just set his "counter" to over 1,000,000 and reset yours to 0.

Trust me, he did it to me.
