Painfully few. Since that gear was a standard inclusion in the HO package, and the HO package cost relatively little more than the gear alone, there weren't many people who ordered their car that way. It's like "hmmm... I could spend $250 and get 145 HP and a 3.73 gear, or $350 and get 190 HP and a 3.73 gear.... this is a real challenge, I think I'll consult my financial adviser for the best deal..." (I don't recall the actual prices, all I remember is that at the time I saw no point whatsoever in buying one of these cars without the HO package) Somebody posted some production numbers on this page a couple of days ago showing some few hundreds of 3.73 options ordered separately compared to tens of thousands of HO cars.

I'm not sure what you're really asking, but the bottom line is: if you see a LG4 car with 3.73 gears, you can pretty much take it to the bank that somebody has either been inside that rear, or the rear as a whole didn't come in the car.

I guess I have an oddity. My build sheet says 3.73 performance axle ratio, but I know I have an lg4. It's a 3.73 non-posi. I wonder why it was ordered that way.

I am sure my 82Z28 LG4 also has the 3.73 rearend. At 60 mph the tach is up around 3500rpm.
