Stiffeners

What kind of frame stiffeners came on the third gen convertibles? I thought it was like some kind of sub-frame connectors but I can't see anything different underneath.

they run behind the rocker panels. All the T-top and verts got them. If you have a vert it is a good idea to get some more help underneath. I have Alston tubular and they work great.

Let me clarify this statement. T-top and convertibles do not have the same frame stiffeners. Have you ever noticed those small hard rubber "wedgies" in the door jamb of a t-top car? These allow the doors themselves to provide some stiffening. Convertibles also have these but non t-top cars do not. In addition, convertibles have a huge reinforcement bar behind the side ground effects that run from front to rear wheelwell. In fact, the backs of rockers themselves are trimmed off to make room for these. The beauty of these bars is that it provides a lift point in addition to the frame. The front fenders also different on convertibles which allow space for these reinforcement bars.
