1987 Convertible, Price???

Well, a fellow Camaro owner has a 1987 Camaro convertible with a 305 Carbuated engine and an A4. The car is in mint except for the the convertible cover.

He's interested in selling it.
The question is what is this car worth?

Less than 1,000 made total, he can ask anything he wants for it. And chances are, he'll get it. I personally would never pay more than 3750 on the car, with it needing 650-800 in repairs needed to the top. If it is an SC, buy it and don't think twice...1 of 260something...I think

I paid $3500 for my '87 sport coupe conv. in 1998, it was a solid Tennessee car but it needed paint and detailing, it had 107k miles but it was mechanically sound. I had it repainted it in '99 for 3 grand, and had the seats re done and new carpet in 2000, I also had it re-striped, and had the wheels blasted and re-painted, the top is still in fairly good shape, I probably have about 9k stuck into the car total, but I don't care, because the car is 1 of 263 and I will never sell it. Chris, you know I agree with you completely. I recently sold my metallic blue 1987 Z28 convertible to Tim Burgess' (Electronics board moderator) in-laws. I got $7700 for it. Since that time, over $13,000 has been spent on it. Do you think this kind of money is worth dumping into an LG4 car? If it's a 20th Anniversary Commemorative Edition, it sure is. Here's a pic BEFORE it was "restored".

Colin, I assume you're talking about my convertible. Yes, I know. I'm probably the the only person who's owned two of these cars concurrently. I still have one more:

<IMG SRC = "http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1427158&a=10688442&p=36653901&Sequence=0&res=high">

And this one is NOT for sale at any price. To add to Colin's statement, only two dozen (best guestimate) of the 744 Z28 convertibles did not have the IROC-Z option. Of these cars, there are only nine confirmed to exist today. Of the nine, only two have the TPI/5-speed drivetrain. My red convertible is one. The TPI/automatic was not an option on the convertible.

Tough to say. Non-original conversions aren't as desirable to a collector, but to the average joe, they're likely not to know the difference.

Here in the Tornto area Thirdgen Convertibles are Quite expensive.I paid $8000.00 for my '90 iroc Convertible with 120 000 miles on it. Most of the convertibles were going for 10-12 K. The ones in really bad shape were still going for 5-6K and this was in September when the prices for these cars are typically lower. These cars seem to hold their value here in Southern Ontario.
