3rd Gen dilemma--give me your advice
3rd Gen dilemma--give me your advice
I've had my 87 Formula for about 8 months now and I've put a lot of work into it but I've come to the reality that it will always have 'issues' that can never be fixed. It has had 7 previous owners and currently sits at 198,000 miles on the beaten-down 305. I basically need to replace the engine/tranny and get minor body work/paint done to get it up to near-perfect standards. That could cost me anywhere from 2k to 2k to get done.
Here's the dilemma: Friday I was crusing past the local Pontiac dealer and got a wild hair up my *** and decided to 'test drive' a 2001 T/A. Obviously I had a big grin the entire ride but no intentions of buying--$27k just doesn't feel good at this point. Anyway, in their "just traded in but we haven't done anything with" lot behind the dealership was what looked like a 94 T/A. After looking closer at it and eventually taking it for a ride, it turned out to be a 94 T/A with 110,000 miles. I asked the salesman how much they wanted for it "as is" and he had to make a call. I was listening on the speakerphone when I heard him say the "rock bottom" would be $5,500. I broke out the checkbook and bought it right there on the spot. The vehicle needed a good cleaning inside and out and it has turned out to be a total STEAL.
So now my driveway has an 87 Formula and a 94 T/A (along with my wife's PT Cruiser and my 98 Grand Prix GTP in the garage). What do I do? Is it worth keeping a Formula with 200,000 miles on it only to chunk more cash into it over the next several years only to have it still be a high mileage vehicle?
Any thoughts or advice on what YOU would do will help me make this decision..
Thanks,
David (91Bravo)

i would sell the formula and keep the TA but what i would do shouldnt matter its what YOU want to do. do what you want man dont give a damn about what others would do at least not in this type of situation. and man it sounds like you got a good deal on the TA. TINFY
Off topic... its your choice.
