Did the V8 cars come standard with the 16" wheels? I've been looking at a '91 RS 5.0 and I could have sworn that it had 15" wheels on it.

The 1991 - 92 RS came standard with 15-inch wheels and P215/65R-15 tires. The optional 16-inch wheel was available only with the 305 V8 and came with P235/55R-16 tires.

Suspension was the determining factor for wheel & tire size. Check the RPO label for FE1. This was the soft suspension for all V6 RS and some V8 RS cars which included N90 (15X7 alum. wheels), and QPH (215/65-R15 tires). The optional F41 suspension was reserved for V8 RS and some Z28 models. Which included N96 (16X8 alum. wheels), and QMT (235/55R16 tires). This may be an FE1 car that someone has put 16 in. wheels on it.

didn't monkie's onld '92 have 16's on it? He would have said something about it if they were added afterward.

RE: Suspension

My car has the RPO codes
FE2 : SUSPENSION SYSTEM, RIDE HANDLING
6DB : SPRING, COMPUTER SELECTED, FRONT, LEFT HAND
7DB : SPRING, COMPUTER SELECTED, FRONT, RIGHT HAND
8NL : COMPUTER SELECTED REAR LEFTHAND SPRING
9NL : SPRING, COMPUTER SELECTED, REAR, RIGHT HAND

The tire size is
N96 : WHEEL, 16 X 8, CAST ALUMINUM
QLC : TIRE ALL, P245/50ZR16/N BL R/PE ST TL HW4

Of course it is a Z but it is a '91 and another wrinkle on the Suspension breakdown as it relates to tires.

Cheers
Robin
