diff between 91-92 Z-28's

hey all,
I was wondering what the main differences were on the last 2 years. Ive owned an 83 and 86 T/A and an 89 GTA. I'm looking for an 91-2 Z28 (personally I dont care for the batman look of the pontiacs) with the 350. Is the interior much different? I think they did away with the MAF sensor, did they? Also which cars got the dual cats? Ive looked at magazines from 91-2 and they say the cars dont shake as much. Thanks, any info would be appreciated.

The differences between 91-92 are going to be slim if even noticable. The seams are filled better in the 92's, they also seem to use more vette and LT1 parts in the TPI system as GM wasn't making any more parts for the system soon to die. The performance is goign to be identical. Also 92's got rubber snubbers betwen the hatch and the hatch frame and late 91's to 92 got a different hatch pulldown.

The MAF was used 1985-1989, then was gone. Speed density was used 1990-1992. All 350 Z28's were G92 cars in 1992, but not sure about 1991. '91 was such an odd year and a long build. March 1990 to July 1991, I think.

Only the 90-92 350's came standard with dual cats and 3.23 gears. The 305 5-speeds can be either single cat 3.08's or dual cat 3.42's.

The valve covers are LT1 or TBI valve covers, ie black instead of silver. The runners are rough cast instead of smooth. The throttle body plates are blank like the LT1, etc... As far as performance it doesn't make any diffrence but you can see they were using other parts to complete the cars rather than produce parts that woudln't be needed...

92 will have the 25th anniversary badge on the dash, and if equippd with Z03 a badge on the trunk lid (hardtop), strippes and color matched grill.
The convts get more body strengthening, different rear seat belt arrangement.
Late in the 92 production, Chevy used what they had left of the Vette TPI parts. My early production 92Z28 has smooth runners and silver valve covers. The late production 92Z28 I parted had rough cast runners and black valve covers.

Does anyone know how many 92 Z-28 conv. were made? I think I remember seeing a number around 1400 some time ago.
