Formula with drums?????
I've been reading some of the threads in here and I think someone said that all formula's came with 4-wheel disc brk. It's got the hood of a frmla., but(shudder) DRUMS.
Is it maybe not a formula from the factory or what???

14X3 o.e., functional formula hood(for sale in future), uhhh..., umm...
Am I the only person who believes a car has feelings, emotions, and a soul??

Axle/Gears: Drums?
So a 91 TA with WS6 and rear drums is no big deal? Not that I'm not throwing the drums in the trash first chance I get anyway.

The deal with the 1991 cars having drum brakes that should have disc brakes is due to either a shortage of disc brakes, or a strike at the disc brake factory, I forget which. It happened sometime in Winter/Spring 1991, so those cars built in that time period got drum brakes instead. My details are sketchy but I hope you get the idea.
Also from what I have heard, all TBI cars have rear drum brakes, regardless of the car they are in.

Kevin is on the right track about the late model 3rd Gen F-bodies. My GTA has rear Aluminum drums where ALL the documentation says it is suppose to have 4 wheel disk brakes STOCK.
When I enquired to GM back in 1991 they informed me they were switching over totally to 10 bolt from 9 bolt and they encountered problems with the new 10 bolt rear disk. So while they were re-engineering the design they used drum brakes. But if you car SHOULD have had disks, they gave you an Aluminum drum instead (though the Aluminum drum was available as an option on other cars).
As the majority of your braking is done by the front disks, you shouldn't fret over having rear drums. You can run 15" wheels with rear drums which is good for tire selection should you want to use slicks at the track. A 15" rear wheel won't fit over a rear disk to my knowledge. A better solution for braking is to go with an aftermarket larger front disk.
