87 Formula Questions??????

I just bought an 87 Formula with the base 305, automatic, limited slip rear and 4 wheel disc brakes. I've never seen another base engine Formula with 4 wheel disc brakes so is this a correct option? The car is totally stock and only has 45K miles on it, so I don't beleive the rear was changed. Also how unusual are manual windows and manual side mirrors in a Formula? I know they were standard with power being optional. Also no T-Tops. Its a fairly low option Formula. It also has the lower body stripe package around the entire car. Any idea if the majoity of Formulas came with or without the stripe package. I beleive it was a delete option if I remember correctly. Thanks in advance for any help.

Car: '89 GTA, '15 Camaro LS 6sp.
Engine: L98, LFX.
Transmission: 4L60, AY6.
Axle/Gears: 3.27's.
Congrats! Welcome to the club.

The Formula for '87 came standard with the WS6 suspension and it included the (J65?) 4wdb option. No matter what engine it came with in '87, LG4/LB9/L98, all formulas had the WS6 and 4 wheel-disc brakes. Formulas for '87 did indeed come with (lower-body) accenting with a tape stripe and decals. I'm pretty sure the "stripe/accent" delete package was NOT available for the Formula in that particular year. However, I believe the stripe/accent delete package was offered in the years '88-'90.

Base engine, being what?

I thought the 4 wheel discs were only available with the TPI but I guess stranger things have happened... The rear discs werent standard and werent a part of the WS6 in 87 (or 86 or 88 for that matter) so it was an option added to your car if in fact it was available with the base engine. Manual window cranks and mirrors doesnt sound unusual. The single color, or delete package, or whatever... Well I drove a brand new 87 Formula with the 350 in August 1986 off the lot of a dealer for a test drive, and it was all red, no stripes at all. It was definitely available with no stripes at all.

Memory lapse...

Hello, I was the guy who originally posted this and after getting the Formula home, I came across the original window sticker in all the paperwork. The J65 4wheel disc brakes is listed as an individual option and was priced at $179, so it is obviously not part of the Formula option and was available with the LG4 305 4barrel engine. I hope this clears things up somewhat. Thanks.

Back then, you could free-flow almost all the Firebird options, resulting in some pretty wierd build combos.

A stick LG4 with discs and low options sounds like a killer base for a streeter, say with a ZZ4 and some squeeeeeeezeeeeeeeee.

Why are you selling it?
(The Formula that is on eBay right now!)

Formula Fans:
There is a good photo of the window sticker to document the equipment.
