88 formula

Just saw an 88 Formula 305 tpi in the junk yard--what a waste!! Car had 3.27's w/rear drums and the n64 spare tire. I thought those only came w/the rear disc cars? Also had the aluminum driveshaft. Car was all original so nothing was swapped. Do you guys think those rear drums are aluminum? Can't get the wheels off so it's hard to tell.
car still has the rpo label in it too.
Also had dual fans--thought that was only on 350 cars? Has the 140 speedo w/the 6000 tach.
they're gonna crush the car on Tues so some info quick!
Thanks!!

As far as I know, all Formulas came w/rear disc brakes.Trans Ams of same years could have drums but not Formulas.
4 wheel disc brakes were part of the WS6 package which was standard on all Formulas. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Car definitely had the ws6 package on it--huge sway bars and the ws6 sig on the lower dash(original) When I go to the yard on Tues(before it's crushed) I'll grab the rpo tag.
Car makes me curious tho.

All Formulas had the WS6 suspension as standard equipment but it did not include the J65 4 wheel disc brakes, that was an individual option priced at $179 and was available on any Formula no matter what the engine or transmission. The disc brake option was a required option on the 305 TPI 5spd and 350 TPI Formulas.

OK but what about dual fans? I thought they were only on 350's? Also were those drums aluminum?

Dual fans were available on cars other than 350 cars, heavy duty cooling option. If the drums were in fact aluminum, they were not original. GM used them on G-bodies in the early 80's, but ditched them because of problems with them... which basically amounted to wear issues. The aluminum drums have a strange round button looking thing that is the weight for balancing, and the fins are much larger and stick out farther from the drum itself than the cast iron drums.

I thought aluminum drums were used on Irocs that had the 16 inch rims? Does anyone know the rpo code from the Camaros?
When I go Tues I'll check for those weights and I'll let you guys know what I find.
Thanks for all the help w/my questions.
So I guess Firebirds only used the steel drums then?

Jason unfortunately I can't, the car has been gutted to hell, harness has been cut and the body is shot to hell!! Dents and scrapes all over the place! Plus the car is like 80 miles from my house, so that would be one hell of a tow for me. For the hell of it I asked how much for it the way it was--he wanted $500-wasn't worth it, only thing that was worth something was the interior-so you know how that goes! Would've been the perfect car for my 350 drivetrain. he wanted $1000 before he pulled the drivetrain.A Day late!!
Ha said he'll wait a day before he crushes it because I told him I needed some more stuff from it--nice guy!?!
