LG4 Aircleaners...

My 84 LG4 has a black single snorkel aircleaner. My 83 LG4 has a chrome aircleaner w/ one snorkel. Both aircleaners are factory items. Does anyone else have the chrome aircleaner on their LG4?
All the other LG4's i have seen have had black aircleaners.

I would like to repaint the aircleaner lid on my 84 does anyone have any suggestions on what type/ brand of paint I should use?
I would like a Semi-gloss finish (factory looking).

Thanks for any feed back.

The chrome lid isn't original, they're available aftermarket.

My 85 LG4 had a dual snorkel black air cleaner. I would recommend a high heat black made by VHT or Duplicolor High heat DH 1602. It is just right, not glossy, not flat, for a lot of underhood components.

These paints can be picked up locally, additionally www.eastwoodco.com makes some nice underhood paints.

I thought only L69 F-bodies received the dual snorkel air cleaner...

I also thought that only L69 cars had the dual snorkel aircleaner.

Well I painted the aircleaner lid and it looks great. I cleaned it with steel wool and did some wet sanding. I also removed all the rubber.
I used DupliColor DH1602 and it matches pretty closely, I also used Duplicolor gloss coat on it. It is just what I was looking for.

Yes, I sure can't say my dual snorkel cleaner on my 85 LG4 was stock or not, just know that it had one when I got it.

try some of that sweet "chrome" spray paint on it, I hear that stuff looks real shiny, just like real chrome. sorry, i just laugh everytime i see a can of that stuff with the shiny cap on it, then you spray it and it is dull silver.

Anyone here ever try that dual-snorkel mode that's in the tech section?? I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of good pics of how it looks (the pic on the page doesn't get close enough).
