What's this car worth??

I had a lady come in today who's been trying to sell her car through the Auto Shopper. My boss only wants to give her $500 for it, but what could I safely get for a car like this?

-'84 Trans Am hardtop, LG4, auto
-Nice repaint (medium blue), no T/A logos or hoodbird
-136k miles, very tight, 2 owner car (she bought in '84 with 4k miles)
-Never hit, questionable documentation
-Reupholstered seats, decent but far from stock appearing

All in all, its a solid, unremarkable, but extremely nice looking old T/A. I'd like to buy this thing for the lot (I'd never be happy without t-tops), so what could I safely buy this thing for and be able to make a grand or so to make the boss happy? I wanna find this car a good home!! Plus I could use it as a demo for a month or two

Not much, LG4's are really slow compared to the later thirdgen's. I should know. could get a grand if you find someone looking for a resto project. LG4's are great for rebuilds 'cause they have pretty mild cams and therefore the valve gear isn't stressed too much.
