problem swapping interior on my vert (91 vs. 92 rear seatbelts???)
i know a lot of vert owners frequent the restoration board so i'll try this here:I just bought a 92 camaro convertible, thinking that the entire interior would be exactly the same as my 91, but the rear seatbelts aren't. The tonneau cover holds my belts while on the 92, the belts are supported by some sort of tower looking thing. I need to know how to get my red seatbelts from the tonneau cover to the tower thing and the black seatbelts from the tower to the tonneau cover. I really hope this can be done or else I am screwed. Maybe the "Spool" that holds the belts can be transfered from one to the other. Thanks.

I know that on my 89 (same as your 91) the retractors are in a black/gray case under the tonneau cover. My 92 has the pyramid type but I have never pulled the covers off the front (just cloth covered cardboard probably held in my velcro). Pull those covers and see if they are similar to your 91.
Talk to me about the 92 you bought. Are you parting it? What kinda shape is the top frame in? I want to convert my 89 over to a 91/92 style top.
Is the 92 an RS or was it a Z28?
edit: I still have my old red rear seat belts hiding in back. I only converted the fronts to black when I changed interior color from red to black. I don't have any kids so no one sits in back anyways.
Tks.

this 92 has 129,000 miles on it, but it is too nice to part out. For some reason it runs and drives way better than my low mile vert. That peice is held on exactly like you said it would be. I think I might be able to rig the rear belts on the pyramid to fit, but i might need new belts for my car because if i can get the spools switched, my belts will pull up when the cover does. I am going to have to look into swapping tonneau covers maybe or putting my seatbelt set up onto the other car's tonneau cover and moving that pyramid over to my car. The pyramid would be easy to change, but the tonneau cover might require welding.

Swap the tonneau covers. There are just two bolts per bracket attaching it. I would scribe the location of the brackets with an awl before I removed it though. Good luck, Lon.

I was thinking about that because the tonneau cover on the red car could used a painting anyway. That would be the simplest but most costly way of doing it.
