I just bought my second third gen. It is an 88 Trans Am. Anyways I looked up the VIN number and it says I am supposed to have a 305 in it. But when I looked up the RPO codes it says I have a 5.0 liter 350 TPI. I also have a 92 Firebird with a 305 in it. The Trans Am has way more power in it than my firebird. How can I find out exactly what engine I have.

sounds like you're comparing a TBI 305 and a TPI 305... TBI is rated at about 170hp, TPI is rated at about 215-220hp... not to mention torque.

BTW "it says I have a 5.0 liter 350 TPI", a 5.0 is a 305, not 350.
