Trunk Size on a ThirdGen vert.?
Trunk Size on a ThirdGen vert.?
Going to Florida to pick up my new toy on Saturday and want to bring lot's of tools for the journey "just in case". Wife's is going too so that means there is luggage. I have seen different numbers regarding the trunk capacity. Could one of the vert. owners please give me the truth, how small is it? I have a vcvs code on my build sheet that says split rear seats, do the vert.'s really have a split seat in the back like the coupes?
Thanks...Alex
Thanks...Alex
Yes they have a split rear seat, but it doesn't give you any more room unless the top is up, and don't count on that area giving you any real usable space.
I was going to take measurements for you, but it would be to difficult to explain the exact dimensions of it. Just don't count on packing a ton of stuff in there. You can fit a good sized suitcase in it, but that takes up about 75% of your space, if it is not a huge suitcase. You can fit lots of small stuff in it though. Have fun and good luck.

the trunk is pretty small. we fit one of the small igloo coolers, 2 12 packs, and two full Jansport backpacks in the trunk of my friends.. and that was about all it was gonna hold, period. the cars do indeed have split rear seats.., you can always fold them down and stack things on top of the seatbacks. There's a pretty small opening that goes into the trunk w/ the top up w/ the seats down.. but barely tall enough to shove anything back there..
to compare the trunk space to that of a coupe.. take the front edge of the narrowest part of the trunk basin.. and go straight up.. that's the trunk. the space under the top and trunk lid w/ the seats down is about as tall as the space between the rear cargo area and the retractable cargo cover, but not the full width from wheel well to wheel well. Now that I've confused even myself, I'm going to shut up.. Good luck on the drive, hope you don't have any problems.. and avoid I-10 through Louisiana.. I'd say to go farther north and take I-20 through the northern part of louisiana then cut back down 59 in Texarkana.. 10 through Louisiana.. well any road in Lousisiana is horrible.. but I-10 especially.. potholes gallor.. and possibly one of the bumpiest roads in the country..

One large suitcase will fit in the trunk. That takes up pretty much all the room. However, fold down the rear seats and use that space, holds a small cooler and an 85lb German Shepard!

tiny tiny trunks, not all of them have split rear seats, mine didn't before my interior swap. Guess it depends on the interior package it had.
