Stock gears, please help...
Hi i have an '87 SC LG4 auto and was curious i want to put 3.73 gears on it, what were the options that came with the SC for rear end gears, is there anychance i had limited slip? Thanks for your help.

Chances of having a LSD are slim to none. I don't know the correct RPO code to look for, but you can just jack up the back of your car and spin the one tire. If they both spin the same direction, you have a Posi, if they spin opposite you have an open.

I have a '87 LG4 automatic that came stock with 3.23 gears. The best bet is to just decode the RPO codes that start with "G".

According to the Chevrolet Camaro dealer order guide for 1987, the Sport Coupe with LG4 and 5-speed came with 3.23's, while the LG4 with automatic came with 2.73's. There were no optional gear ratios available, no exceptions. If you'd like a scan of this page, e-mail me.

Also, the limited slip option (RPO G80) was not available on the Sport Coupe, only the Z28/IROC-Z with TPI.

Willie, I have checked my RPOs, that's where I got the information from.
GU5 - AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO
LG4 - ENGINE, GAS, 8 CYL, 5.0L, 4BBL
MD8 - TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, THM 700 R4
This is what my RPO sheet reads, so I'm guessing that this is what I have.
