83 L69 update!!!
83 L69 update!!!
The 450 bomb lives! Jason and I totaled up what I have into the car as of now and it's $1,005.44. Not bad for a car that has a new console, switches, clutch linkage, etc etc etc. The list goes on and the hatch was painted today along with the new middle spoiler! Now to pick it up. This car has come a long way and is about to drive from mass to fla in a few weeks(It will make it no problem!) OH AND PICS JUST HAVE TO BE DEVELOPED!!! SOON!

Are you sure your vehicle is an L69?
I remember reading one of your post, and you posted the VIN number being a 7. That is not an L69 VIN code (that would be a G ), that is an LU5 Cross-Fire engine code. Just curious.

in 83, 82 they were throwing VIN engine codes around. In 82 cross-fire was 7 and in 83 cross-fire was S. He is correct. The tech data on this page is incomplete and someone should get around to fixing it.
Orange rocket you got any pics? I have been emailing Jason trying to get some pics of this car. I am glad you saved it from the crusher. later man and good luck

My 83 L69 Z28 has VIN engine code 7. And I'm quite sure it's a genuine L69 car, I've had it since 85.
Incidentally, I was in Auto Zone today trying to buy something for it; VIN code 7 shows in their computer as TBI (CFI in this case obviously). It would seem that's a common assumption.

No one said the guys at Auto Zone are to bright! It's on its way we did the body work on the dr rear panel today. I was actually happy that when I started sanding the wavy panel and crooked wheel arch, that someone just doesn't know how to use body filler. i sanded it away and with about a cups worth of body filler and alot of pounding and swearing it is ready for etching primer! Pics will be up soon!!! Yes it's a L69 car and for 83 the #7 is correct for vin! Thank god. The car looks worse then any ghetto cruiser now but give it a little time!

Yeah, she's looking a little rough, but it is coming along. I've driven it a couple times, and I'm quite surprised how well it runs. Matt's got A LOT of bodywork ahead, but its gonna be a great piece when he's done...it'll be awhile though. I am discovering doing it right takes a LONG time...

Yes, according to the GM shop manual for camaro's, in 1983 the VIN code for the HO 305 was a 7. And yes, all the parts places will try to tell you that means fuel injection. They can't even get you the right parts half the time, so why believe them on VIN codes. I was actually informed at ADVANCE AUTO that there is no such thing as an '86 IROC. The guy tried to prove it by showing me their computer didn't begin listing IROCs till '88.

I think it happened because they saw that 7 was the fuel injection code for 82 and they said hey it must be the same and then they just threw the other in. That is what happens when a bunch of suits run a business they know nothing about.
