alternator code

Anyone have a picture of or know what code
is stamped on an 89 IROC alternator. I am
refering to the two letter code on the top.
I changed mine out and forgot to look at it.
I need it for future reference for restoration and documentation.
Thanks
SM

Dude,

Look at your RPO code list and run them. There is a code that will ID your Alt.

Look for the code that starts with "K"

For example:

K90 : GENERATOR,108 AMP

That might at least get you pointed in the right direction

Don

I know your car is an 89 IROC, but for 1982, the RPO codes are as follows:

K81: 63-amp generator
K73: 70-amp generator
K99: 85-amp generator

RPOs for 1983 are slightly different:

K81: 66-amp generator
K64: 78-amp generator
K99: 85-amp generator

RPOs for 1984:

K81: 66-amp generator
K64: 78-amp generator
K22: 94-amp generator

RPOs for 1985:

K64: 78-amp generator
K22: 94-amp generator

I'm sure there are more RPOs for generators, but all I have on record is up to 1985. I hope this helps somewhat.

What he is referring to is the black ink stamped markings on the top of the OE alternator. In this case, how about "JT"?

Thanks, that was what I was looking for. I did find a camaro same year at the super fest and his code was F8. I got a picture and now I am going to figure out a way of duplicating it.
Thanks
