Aluminum drums, drive shaft, spare, no ac or power accessories>>>>
There's a guy on my message board with an 88 IROC that's got no A/C, no power windows/locks, but has an aluminum driveshaft, spare and drums. It's a 305 5 speed. I never heard of any IROCs coming without A/C and power accessories except for the 1LEs. The aluminum driveshaft also sounded promising, but the aluminum drums don't seem like something a 1LE would have. Could this be one of the 4, or just an oddly optioned IROC?
I asked him to email me his VIN and RPOs, so hopefully I'll get a definitive answer soon.

Jim, I'm going to say that's a regular IROC that was factory ordered with a minimum of accessories. 1LE's all came with rear discs from the factory according to the literature. Suppose you could retrofit the AL drums, but why? Also it was common for non 1LE 88 Camaros and Firebirds to get the AL drive shaft from the factory. I'm going from memory but I seem to remember that 89 was the first year that AC was standard equipment on Fbodies (not sure though), so it may not have been considered a special order to delete it from an 88. I don't think PW or PDLs were standard. It is a very unique car but I think you could order an IROC this way if you had a cooperative dealer.
I have a 89 IROC convertible that has no A/C and no power options whatsoever. The only options my IROC has is cruise/tilt. It even only has a 305/TBI and 5 speed combo. My IROC has a steel driveshaft and iron drums. My IROC came with the 15" IROCs when I bought it, but I have upgraded to the 16"s. I don't know if every IROC came with FE2, but mine has the FE2 suspension. So what I'm trying to say is that not all IROCs came stocked to the top with options.
