ok I just broke my temp control and anti-freeze was all over my hood insolation so I took it down...after i was done I stepped back and noticed that underneath my hood it looks like I have spots to make louvers fuctional..maybe its just me..also on my front license plate holder it says z28 I also saw a 88 sc with the same z28 plate holder. Was GM using parts for z28s on the SC ?

85 through 92 Camaro hoods all used the same inner structure, so from underneath, an RS hood will look like a Z-28 and IROC-Z hood. As far as making the louvers functional, anything is possible if you've got the moolah. The factory louver inserts are not open, so you'd have to build a custom set. I think this would only be worth the time and expense if you raced the car, and then you probably would not be using the factory hood anyway.

ad the reason for the plate holder sayin z28 was because the 88's got the GFX and "Z28" was imprinted into the plate holder originaly, and they just used the same part for the SC's. Just another tidbit of info, the earlier SC's had sport coupe and berlinetta imprinted on them

 

As far as I know, the Sports Coupe was no longer made after 1986. They then became the RS or Rally Sport.

Nope, SC's were made in 88, they got the special spoiler and "camaro" badges on the GFX. In 89 the RS became the base model of camaros.
The betlinetta, however, was not made after 1986. In 87 it became the LT and lost the digital dash, and after that disappeared.
