HELP rpo's gone how do I find out about my car?
I have an '87 that I bought three years ago, just am getting into history stuff, got new tires, water pump, radiator, etc. and can finally focus on rest. How do I get all the info? Somebody suggested finding out here? I appreciate any help I can get.
Sometimes, depending on how helpful they're feeling that day, you can get a printout of your RPOs from a GM dealer. It's a crapshoot though, they might or they might not have it, or just don't wanna look for it.
Otherwise, the best way to find out about your car is to hang around hear and learn how to identify things. Examples: axle codes, build sheet locations, engine codes. A lot of it is visual anyway; you should be able to tell a standard interior from a deluxe interior, cloth from leather, t-tops from coupes, appearance packages like ding guards and drip rails above the doors. And chances are, some things have been replaced anyway, so RPOs don't help for much more than finding out what it SHOULD have been. Good luck with your research and have fun with the car.
