F41 Camaro????

Anyone know what the heck an F41 camaro is? i was behind on a few days ago when i was out cruising in the ROC. the car was the early 3rd gen style, no ground effect, and where the indent is on the bumper (where my car says Tuned Port Injection) there was a F41 logo on a black background. The background ran all the way across the bumper and it said Camaro on the other side. That leads me to belive that it is a factory option. It was night out so i didnt get a real good look, but the car was a light blue color, it looked in pretty decent shape, and had the factory Camaro mudflaps. anyone got any info on this option package???

I think it was something like a Z28 suspension without the rest of the ground effects, etc. that came with the Z28 package.

the Z28 suspension was a bit better than the F41, but the F41 was pretty close

RPO F41 (sport suspension) was an optional package available on the 1982 - 1985 Sport Coupe with an LG4 305 and optional "upgraded" tires. It included slightly larger sway bars and slightly stiffer springs. It became the "standard" Sport Coupe suspension in 1986.

Did it also come w/rear discs? This kid I know, his 84 Camaro(owned it over 10 yrs)is an F41 car--bought it from the original owner-came w/the 14' rally rims and rear discs w/the good seats(moveable headrests-deluxe interior) also had the 305 carbed engine. What was the upgraded wheels? The 15 inch rally rims?

Yes, it did come with rear disc brakes, the four-wheel disc brake option. The one that had a recall because of a problem with the rear calipers. Only the stick shift cars were subject to the recall.

I've seen several F41s; most were 92s that had 16" wheels, huge swaybars, high-effort steering, and drum rears. They all had F41 on the RPO sheet, but only one had F41 emblems (that one had rear discs).

Every 86 and up Camaro that isn't a Z28 or a B4C should have that RPO.

I think there are 2 different things going on here... there were cars that carried a badge that said "F41" (exactly as 88blk described) which were usually base model cars (Firebird SE and Camaro Sport Coupe). I have no idea whether that badge has in fact anything at all to do with the suspension RPO, or whether it's just coincidence, you know, where the marketing guys reached into a bin of letters and numbers and pulled out 3, and they happen to coincide with the suspension RPO. There used to be quite a few of them around where I lived (Memphis), all of them pretty much strippers, none were cars I would even take a second look at or have any interest in buying.

Nope, neither F41 or FE1 are listed on my sheet. No "F" codes at all.

all I know is that my almost 14 year old sport coupe handles remarkably well given it's age.

My 91 RS is a F41 car, it has the Z28 wheels and so forth. I think it was still just an option all the way up to 92
