Maybe this is a stupid reply but why not mark your steering wheel, crank it to lock, then count the turns to the far lock the other direction?

It's not a stupid reply, but I was just wondering because I'm at school right now and my car is stored and inaccessible and I'm compiling a list of stuff to buy that I'll put in next summer. I'm looking at the quicker ratio steering, but I'd like to know what I have in there already..thanks

I'm not sure, but I'd imagine if you had 16" wheels from the factory, you probably have the same box as was used on the Iroc's, Z28's, etc. Several of the resources I've seen say the difference in the box was to prevent the larger tires from rubbing. Regardless 2 of my thirdgens with 245's rub.
Best bet would be to check your car, it could have any number of different parts in it.

Well Drew, you're the only one that seems to give a rats *** about my question, and I don;t wanna seem like i'm beating a dead horse, but my car came w/ 15" wheels from the factory. With 235/60/15's they rub at full lock. I have every intention of checking my car when I bring it out of storage, but I just wanted to know if I should get in on a good deal on a 2.25 steering box....thanks again

There's a difference between the ratio and the lock settings. There's also a valving difference that can contribute to the "feel" of the steering.

Whatever the case, your car probably has the less "sporty" feeling box, so, yes, try to get your hands on a better box. 'specially if you're gonna end up going my route and putting 275s on the front.
