I was looking at a 1983 T/A Daytona pace car today that i might buy as a daily driver. It is cheap $$ for the car and has the 5.0 HO with a T5 and all the goodies - was just wondering if anyone out there had production #'s of how many were produced?? Thanks in advance - Erik

That is a rare one. There were 2,500 produced but only 500 (give or take a few) were 5 speeds - most were autos. Depending on the price and condition it could be a diamond in the rough.

If all the Daytona items are there Recaro seats, fender and console Daytona 500 emblems, floor mats, original paint scheme etc... I jump on it.

Thanks for the info numbers you guys. I figured that the car was somewhat unusual. The car still has the factory Recaro seats with its original paint, but is missing the "bowling ball" hubcaps and the Daytona emblems on the fenders have been ripped off. Each fender still retains the adheasive that held it on. The car is $1000, and I am debating on buying either that, or my friends 84 T/A 5.0 HO 5 speed black/gold with the factory ground effects package for the same $$. ( I know him really well, the car is probably worth 3 times that as it sits) I have known this car for well over ten years and has been well cared for, and even has the factory window sticker, but I do love the look of the pace car - Any suggestions??? Thanks!

Erik, I own a 83 Daytona 500 TA and run a website/registery. I think you'll find all the info you need there, if not feel free to email me. Also, there were NO L69 (HO) pace cars, all 5spds got the LG4, all autos got the CFI.
