They show up on ebay once in awhile. I have been looking for one for my 92 z28. They can sell for $100-$200 but it is the shipping what kills you due to the size.

I am hoping someone near Austin, Texas has one for sale. I am willing to drive to Houston, San Antonio or Dallas for one.

Be patient and you will find one near you.

Factory rear window louvers (RPO DE1) made their debut in 1986 and continued through 1992. Only a small fraction of Camaros were fitted with these.

I have factory louvers off a 1987 Z28. Drew gave me $20 about two years ago to hold them until he makes a trip to Tucson from South Dakota. So Drew, what's up??? Do you mind if I return your $20 and sell them to someone else???

As I mentioned before, I had a dealer do a nationwide search last Sept for these. I was told there were 4 left in dealer inventory. I called each dealer and found only one in NJ had the complete set. I bought 'em. Good luck finding the factory originals! Does anyone know who made them for GM?

Willie, Shoot me an email I'd like to go ahead and finalize the deal, although I still haven't figured out a good way to work out the delivery.

I believe that Cragar made the stock louvers, although I have no way to verify that.

FYI

Louvers were available in 85 and were the better versions since no provision for a 3rd brake light was needed

My base model 1985 firebird has the DE1 option, so they were available before 1986. Actually I believe 1983 was the first year of availability, but I forget where I saw that.

I know of one other guy locally with a base model 1985 firebird just like mine, and his car has the louvers too. His car is red and so are the louvers! I don't know if that's the original color, but it looks pretty cool.

My 85 'bird louvers are black and sitting in the garage, and I have all the little pieces needed for installation, etc. I have no idea what it's all worth but if anyone wants to make an offer, let me know.

I do know that Cragar did not make the louvers for GM. The GM set were cleaner looking and a better fit than the Cragar ones.

I definitely agree. I saw an 82 Recaro once with Cragar louvers and it did not look right at all.. something just made you have an uneasy feeling.. especially on the sides, where the direction of the lines was really ugly looking.
on the other hand, the GM louvers look great.

!992 Z28 Loovers

I have a factory set of loovers for a 1992 Z28 camaro that I will sell for $75.They have all of the brackets and hinges for proper installation. I live in south MS so I don't know about the shipping charges. When I bought my 1992 Z,that was the first thing that I took off. They rattle, whistle and rub on the rear hatch glass too.
