According to the White Book, the rear wiper was available from 82-86 (roughly 32 or 33 thousand over those years).

I had one on my 82 S/E. It's one of only 2 options I wish the hell my GTA had (the rear wiper and locking rear cargo door).....

Why???? The rear wiper is one of the ugliest options ever designed for an f-body.....not to mention totally pointless as well.

True but on my GTA it would be hidden under the spoiler and still serve a great purpose!

Actually wouldn't it interfere with the 91-92 aero spoiler? It hides decently under the 82-85 T/A spoiler, but you still have that hideous washer nozzle on the roof. I guess I've never seen the point behind the rear wiper. It looks hideous (kinda like making a Camaro/Firebird look like a honda or a minivan) and how often do you really look out the back window? I've had louvers, dark tint, and the 91's wonderful 3rd brake light and aero spoiler, all to block the view out the back. Typically its not a problem 2 side mirrors and I drive a little faster than everyone else so I know they're behind me. Don't forget that the weight of the wiper assembly also adds to pulling the hatch down since its all on the hatch decklid.

A rather unusual idea I've seen to keep the rear window clear was a guy in town took a spoiler off a Celebrity station wagon and mounted it on the top of the car in front of the hatch. It looked out of place even after it was painted to match, (no more so then the 5.0 Mustang hood scoop) but he said it directed air flow to clear the window for him.

I have the option on my 85 IROC. I have to agree that the wiper is ugly, making the lines of the car a bit fussy, and that its utility his questionable at best--and still I kind of like the damned thing.

I saw one on a 89-90 the other day, but it could be a replaced hatch. I was just wondering how many the made, you don't see them very often.

It's so ugly it's cute. But when I see a Camaro or T/A with one I think "loaded car".
