82-86 Leather Auto Shifter Ball Differences

I have 2 of the 82-86 style Leather wrapped auto shifter ***** and have noticed that they are different in shape.1 is round and the other has an extended bottom. The one on the right (pulled from a 83-84 z28) is the kind I see all the time. The one on the left (pulled from a 82 z28)I have only seen this one.Has anyone else noticed this difference?

I haven't noticed the difference. The one in my 85 is simply round.

I have one my buddy pulled from a 85 Z28 parts car that I was going to put into my 88 Camaro, it looks like the one on the Right, with the extended bottom. Not saying it was original to teh car, but that is what it was taken from.

Also the one on the left side has a longer center button piece and has 2 metal tabs inside the sleeve
