"Of the Camaro's built, 80.2% had automatic transmission, 19.8% had a 5-speed manual transmission, 55.5% were equipped with a fuel-injected V8 engine, and 44.5% were equipped with a fuel-injected V6 engine."

Well you also have to take into consideration that 19.8% of ALL Camaros built in that year had manual transmissions, and 55.5 were v-8's. You have to also consider the # of Iroc's compared to the SC and the RS ETC so it may be rare, to bad it wasn't a 1LE because only 4 were produced in 88.

well if i am breaking it down correctly through the numbers on that site I found that there were only a couple hundred made that would have the LB9 v8 with manual trany for a Sport Coupe Iroc-z camaro.

THe idea to take percentages and distribute them evenly over a car line is truely obsurd.
For example in 1989 when ASC converted Firebirds for dealers there is a total of 298 KNOWN vins and what the cars were. If I were to say that there was 177 L98 cars then you could consider that half of them were Formulas and half were GTA's or Trans Am's the truth is there was 135 GTA's or trans ams and only 42 Formula 350's
My point is the numbers are not distributed evenly across the board, they are NOT available as such and to assume anything otherwise is foolish. Call GM or Chevy and they may be able to tell you how many cars are just like yours. I have heard of this before.

Are you asking about Sport Coupe? If so, that would be ZERO with that combo, because LB9 wasn't available in the SC.
Are you asking about IROC / Z28? If so, there were about 117,000 Camaros that year; about 20% of total production had the 5-speed, which could be estimated to be somewhere on the order of 35000, which is about 20% of 117,000 (although as John said, this is only a guess, not to be taken as accurate); then approximately 14% of the 5-speed cars would appear to have been Z28s (rear disk brakes), which means about 4500-5000 5-speed Z28s. Assuming of course that the distribution of 5-speeds was equal across all models of Camaro; 6-cyl, TBI, and TPI. Which is probably not true, but it's all we have to work with, so let's just go with it anyway for a rough estimate.
I don't know where you're getting this "couple hundred" from, or the notion that this combo is "rare", or that "rare" would matter somehow even if it were true.

the 5 speed TPI 305's are the more desirable cars... There were definately a few thousand built.. They are generally hard to find because well most cars are now duct tape cars, have had motor swaps, or have met their maker.
If your car is in close to mint or mint condition, with some other options like G92, ie the dual cats and the 9bolt/ rear disc.. then yes you can ask an extra coupla grand for your car.. If its got more than ahh 75k-100k miles then well its just a fun car to have.

consider some more factors in your search until you've reached desired rareness..
who knows maybe your 1 of 1 with your overall combo of colors and options
