1987 mystery
1987 mystery
ok here somthing kinda funny i may have found out . my 1987 titled as is a 1985 . but its titled as a 1987 somone did a good job trying to hide it . they changed doors changed interior hood and fenders . I found out it was a 1985 after i put the trim tag on here and got board after i found out that it was red in color and chiped some paint off only to find the main body is red and the doors and fenders and hood are grey . is there any way to get a vin number out of the trim tag so i can look up what it had for rpo codes . Also is there more vins . say in the dash area or printed on any more parts that cant be removed or would not be removed ??? its a mystery that i want to solve . Becasue i would like to fix it up . however i cant be putting a car on the road that has shady vins on it . Im in the prosess of getting the motor and back end tags off it .

Try taking the paneling off in the rear of the car (like under the hatch) my formula has a vin tag in that area identical to the tags under the hood. hope it helps!

The vin number is found on the driver's side near the cowl. Look through the windshield. Check the console area for the RPO codes.

The car might be a frankenstein. In 1987, most of the panels had the vin number sticker. If you lift the rear hatch, there should be a sticker, the fenders have stickers, the doors and 1/4s have these stickers. A 1985 car won't have these. Try looking for them and see what parts were put on your car. Also, if tha much was done to hide the true car, finding the build sheets and such will not be easy as they might have already been removed. You can try to take the VIN to a dealer and see if they can help locate the original RPOs. Otherwise, you're kinda stuck.
