what would you pay?

hey guys. just a quick question of what kind of price im lookin for if i decide to sell. i have an 84 berli, black. odometer said 75000 miles, but now the gauges are burnt out. i have a set of hedman headers with a y pipe, somewhat installed, new plugs wires cap and rotor clean title if i can get it from the seller. how much would you pay. this is not an ad, just a question for price.

you have one of the least desirable thirdgens ever made and your mileage is way above anything to consider the car mint. the mileage is low enough that if you restored the car you might get what you put into it though.

mod it and enjoy it, if you expect to ever have a chance at getting some money out of it restore it and never drive it again. the mileage is just too high. but, to put things into perspective i'll use the last year of thirdgens. a 92 z28 350 fully optioned. one of the more sought after vehicles with that type of mileage would go for 6-8k depending on it's location and time of year at this point. the exact same year but in an rs with less mileage and a v6 would go for half that amount or low 5k at most.

again, something is only worth what others will pay though. you'll get more for the car with a working cluster and no custom exhaust installed. rotor, cap, etc... is maintance and is expected.

The scrap metal is worth about $150, but you'd have to pull the radiator, A/C, gas tank, battery, and tires...

Berlinetta's aren't very popular... To the right person it might be worth a small premium over a base model, but not much.

I disagree with the majority here, and will say some Berli's are worth something. If it's an LG4 V8 and not a V6, and if it's got the digi dash it's a nice conversation piece, and worth at least as much as an RS with an LO3 V8.

Except that the pedestal mounted cassette deck, and clunky digital dash, will probably turn a ton of potential buyers away. The lack of ground fx and the gold disco stripes on the tail lights will drive the rest away.

About the only thing that will make it stand out is the unique factor, and everything that makes a Berlinetta unique is dated or makes the Berlinetta hated by most.

i was gonna buy a clean and really good running and driving silver berli locally last year for 400 bucks,

i should have but i passed up on it

it would have been a good reliable spare vehicle, and it was clean no rust,

they just arent worth muchand thats coming from someone who lives in a small farming community where these cars of any of these years/models are rare

although there is another berli 4 blocks from here and its driven around alot, its an ugly white colored one but also not rusted out by some miracle too

it might be worth 300 possibly

good luck

V8 Berlinetta with T-tops,........... Post your asking price when you decide; I'm curious to know.

It's sad to say - but these are the last days for MANY thirdgens; the Last 6 I've scrapped had Major rot on them. 1 of the 6 was salvageable but required extensive work. These days you rarely find a thirdgen without rot holes in it ( in the north east ). If the car is rusted thru I always send them to the crusher.

I used to find 2-3 Berlinettas and 5-6 other F-bodies in each junkyard I visited...... These days I'm lucky to run across just 1 new thirgen junk on my next vist to each of the same yards 4 months later.

Your Berlinetta is worth something - something different to everyone. The trick is to find someone that thinks it's worth the same amount you do !

P.S. I paid 2500 for my V8 Carb 84 Berlinetta T-Top in 92' with 75k miles.
