If the '92 RS you're looking at has a carb then it was installed aftermarket as the car should have TBI(LO3 305).Either just the induvtion has been swapped or maybe the complete motor.A V6(LH0 191)was the standard motor in the RS in '92.
The last year for a factory carb motor in the Camaro was '87(LG4 305).

I would ask plenty of question about the car before consider buying it.Check it out or better yet have a mechanic you trust check it out.

On a pad on the passenger side of the block(behind the alternator)the engine code, date built and the sequence part of the car's VIN is stamped. If the block hasn't been decked or the numbers ground off it should be there. The motor may be original just someone changed out the induction from TBI to carb.

You are most welcome and it's not stupidy unless you don't ask. That's how I've learned what I little know(and it's probably enough to get me in trouble). The sequential number of your VIN should be on the pad on the part of the block. Those are the last six numbers of the VIN.

CHances are its the LO3 V8, they look identical with the air cleaner on to the Carbed LG4 in 1987... I owned both. The RS came standard with the V6 and the LO3 was an option.

You should *ALWAYS* have a trusted mechanic look at any vehicle you plan to purchase. You never know what an experienced eye can catch...

Good eyes John on the alternator and I keep forgetting the A/C is mounted on the passenger side on later cars. And great suggestion DMitchell05.

If it does not have an altinator does that make it a Drag car?

I guess you could push it...

It looks like the entire drivers side acessories are off in that pic, including the power steering pump. But it sure looks like a L03 to me too.
