Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
It's got low miles, that's nice but not worth a whole lot of extra $$ or value unless it's in mint condition, equipped with very desirable options.
Ballpark guess; If all stock, probably somewhere in the $3+ to $5K range.

Damn, i wish my car had a possi. We'd be the sickkest creew aroundd!
Just kidden
Judging by the condition, id say $4 - 5k tops.
My dad picked up a 50k Players challenge 1LE car (one of 32 made) for $7kCAD, so like $6500 with what teh currency conversion was late last year

Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
I'd say the car is worth $2000 based on what I can see. The $5k and up cars are in really good shape. The pictures you sent show a dirty interior with stained seats, worn steering wheel, cracked window felts and a sirty engine. The car might have 52k miles, but they are hard miles based on the condition. This car looks like a car that was just owned and driven for 20 years and not maintained along the way. Are you sure it's not 152K that's in good shape? Plus the car is an 86 with an auto. The worst year for that combination. An appraiser would probably go to to $3k if you can prove the odometer hasn't rolled over.

3rd gens are pretty much at the lowest point in their value that they'll probably ever get.
Most running / driving third gens are worth $1,500 bucks for the simple fact that they are transportation. But any third gen that isn't at the very least, driveable is pretty much worth very little right now... I mean, I see them going for ~$500 or less sometimes on eBay.
The only Camaros / Firebirds that really hold any kind of value at this point are the Firebirds: GTAs, Turbo T/As, CFI Trans Ams, L69/HO Trans Ams, and the Firehawks. For Camaros, IROC-Zs, CFI Z-28s, L69/HO Z-28s, including the 5.7 TPIs.
The Turbo-T/As are actually starting to become almost unattainable with prices reaching over 10 grand.
But, the 3rd gen IS something special, and that's a good handling, very light car that can easily accept any small block chevy or any other large V8 (with simple modifications).
While their values aren't much now... they soon will start fetching high prices in the next 6-8 years since they are perfect muscle car candidates.

Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
Just for the record, $10k is nowhere near unobtainable in todays market. Especially for a TTA. A comparable car would be the Grand National or even the GNX. The GNX is unobtainable for the common folk and the GNs are high priced, but reachable. The TTAs fall in that same category as high priced, but within reach.

Well, money of course is always relative... but I was referring to the production numbers. They made only ~1,500 of them.

Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
Well I know blue book says different, But I used to have this guy come up to my work always trying to buy my sport coupe after i got it painted. You can say im dumb, but he came in with 5000 cash and i told him no way. I love my car and would never sell it so there is no price tag.....From the looks of it yours is nicer than mine and its a z28 and more people likes z;s over coupes, I would say somewhere around 6, but if you wait a few years until its a classis it will go up in value

Well, if all you're interested in is money, then you're dumb. But if you're like me, then you're sentimental! I used to have people offer me money for my Fiero, but I don't think I'd take 40 grand for the car. I'd have to really consider it for 50... but it's just money, and this 87 Fiero SE / V6 was my first car. I've seen enough car shows to know that everyone always says... "I wish I had never sold my first car..."
I won't be one of those guys. My wife hates the Fiero, but I'll be damned if I ever sell it.
With pretty much any older car, it's not worth what you put into it. I get offers all the time for my VW Bus, but I'll never sell it either.

I agree with you a 100%, Theres no way I would ever sell my car, It might not be worth anything to anyone but me, but it is sentimental. It is my first car and theres to much time and to much of myself into it to ever watch someone else drive it away.

Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
I'm a lot of both, worth and sentimental.
I paid about $13,000CDN for mine in 2000. Appraised then at $16,000CDN.
Today she's appraised at $22,000CDN.
It's nice to know both for personal satisfaction and for insurance purposes because I hope to never part with it. I kind'a hope to keep it as an heirloom for my kids someday (haven't figured out who's going to fight for it yet!
).
I agree also that the 3rd gens will not be any cheaper than right now. It has no where to go but up. And time, all by itself, has a way of making that happen. More and more are hitting that age when it's doom or gloom. Most will be doomed for a life as a parts car or be crushed. Now's the time to get your hands on a nice one (or fix one up soon)!
Anyone remember when the 1st gens were a dime a dozen in the early 80's?
I wonder how many wish they still had theirs!!!

Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
iam just going to build a 350 for it i think. and keep it for a week end car how hard is it to put a carb motor in to a car that is tpi iam talking total motor swap is there alot of extra wires i have to cut out and what about my transmision can i still use it on the carb motor???will they bolt up i think mine is the 700r4 because it is a 4 speed auto ???
Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
Yeah, I know.... :\
The thing is though, the 700R4 IS a better transmission than the Th-350. It's not built from the factory to handle the same torque specifications, but it really doesn't take THAT much to make it equal or exceed that of a stock Th-350. There are standard rebuild kits that come with stronger components and additional bands (with better materials).
It's worth at least looking into a performance rebuild VS a rebuilt Th-350.
The Th-350 really just isn't good for the highway (unless you want to buy one of those overdrive add-ons for it).
Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
How about a 98% mint 83 with 26k original miles not to mention it fully loaded and built to the teeth

You can find lots of third gens with your kind of miles, check out e-bay and it will give you an idea. Look under completed listings.

Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
I've been keepin gtabs on this recently and I've realized that they really aren't THAT heavy.
Remember, curb weight and loaded weights are different but this is strictly relative and in no way extremely accurate. Some of our cars are light, some are just loaded and heavy, and I believe Camaros are generally lighter than firebirds... but either way, all stats are from the same place:
third gen Camaro - 3100 lbs
fourth gen Camaro - 3300 lbs
C6 Vette - 3200 lbs
Toyota Supra - 3200 lbs
Ford GT - 3400 lbs
New Mustang - 3500 lbs
4th gen Mustang - 3100 lbs
Pontiac GTO - 3700 lbs
Nissan 350 Z - 3200 lbs
Nissan Skyline - 3650 lbs
Ferrari 575 - 3800 lbs
Sure, Civics, Miatas, RX7's, and Loti are lighter, but there are plenty of cars that are a lot heavier. You could do a lot worse than a thirdgen Camaro if weight is a concern. And some of these cars it's hard to say what options/engines are installed at hte listed weight... including the camaros, but it's an interesting comparison, IMO.
For the record:
Mazda RX7 - 2800 lbs
Mazda Miata - 2400 lbs
Honda Civic - 2400 lbs
Lotus Elise - 2000 lbs
Our cars are heavy, but a lot of newer cars are much heavier.

Re: HOW MUCH IS MY CAMARO WORTH?
The new Mustangs come in at over 3500 lbs. Talk about a boat. The 4th gen Trans Ams are in the 3300-3500 range as well.
As for the value going up, I agree. I mean, at the rate the cars are being destroyed, they're won't be a lot setting around like there was. I was working on a new slab at a local scrap yard, and in two days I saw about 6-8 3rd gen Camaros and 4 or so Firebirds go in to be shredded. And that's not mentioning the ones that were on trailers that had already been crushed. Now I know why I can't find any damn t-tops.
