New to the board

I just purchased a 1989 Camaro RS with a 305 in it. I got it for a steal 1000 dollars. It sat in a garage for 8 years the body is solid with a dent in the front right quarter panel. I dont know much about cars but this is going to be my new hobby I plan on restoring it all the way so any help or insight anyone could give me would be great. If anyone would like to see a picture of it let me know.

Thanks

Well, first bit of help... it is spelled CamAro, not Camero. Why type of help are you actually looking for?

Re: New to the board

Good sources to get parts for the interior. The arm rests are coming off of both doors. Like I said before new at this stuff I just got back from IRAQ and bought the car for 1000 dollars I had an 89 when I was a kid and found this and wanted to start a new hobby by restoring it. The guy had it sitting in his garage for 8 years and finally decided to get rid of it.

You can try the sponsors on the right of the page or the classifieds boards on this site for interior parts.

Re: New to the board

First let me say thanks for your service to our country. Glad you are back safe and sound.

Second welcome to the boards. If it can be fixed someone one here knows how to do it. No need to look any further.

Is the arm rest completley off or is it just missing the bolts that hold it on?

And yes we need lot's of pics. That helps a lot.

The classified section has plenty of people with parts that will ship to you. Arm rest are not expensive and actually can be possibly found at your local U Pull it junk yard for a nominal fee if you need it right away.

Need more details on the car. Color, motor, wheels, etc.

Also your dent...can't be in the front and in the quarter panel. The front (in front of the door) is called the fenders and the quarter panel is behind the door on opposite sides of the rear hatch. It will be real important that you learn and use the proper terms (which you will in time) so that members can give you the proper help. If your dent is in the fender that is a easy fix. Replace the fender with either an aftermarket fender for under $100 or a used one for even cheaper. Your choice. If it is the rear quarter a bit more dicey repair where you will want the advice of a body shop. I bet you meant the fender because you used the term "front".

Welcome back to the Thirdgen world.
