Single or double horns!???

Ok, My '86 iroc only has one horn, of course it has the holes for two but theres only one wire for a single horn so I was wondering if dual horns were an option or should my car have another one.

Re: Single or double horns!???

Dual horns was an option. I'm not sure what years it was offered. I am pretty sure the RPO is U05.

When you look back it's funny how cost cutting shows but also how you could personalize your car.RPO-U05 was the option code for dual horns for the Z28/IROC and Sport Coupe(standard Berlinetta).
You could add the second horn with a jumper wire. But ou would have to find whether the low or high note horn would be the one you need to add.

Thanks guys I figured out that if I would have just taken the time to look at the RPO decoder I would have found the code for that option lol. I found out that mine came factory with single horns. I thought about the jumper wire but might as well keep it stock. Thanks again, 1BAD86

Re: Single or double horns!???

I got a Q to add, My 84 T.A has dual horns but if i press the horn button lightly only one works and if i press it hard both work. Is that normal like dual contacts or is it just not getting enough power through the button when I push lightly?

The horn button on the steering wheel does not directly power the horns. It energizes the HORN RELAY which powers the horns. The relay is located in the convinence center under the driver's side dash, adjacent to the console. I would make the the connectors are tight on both horns and maybe just replace the horn relay. The relay contact could be corroded, so it does not always pass enough current.
