Re: Car weight?
(door jamb stickers list GVW--thats the max weight of the car and passengers)
No highway scales you can use?
Re: Car weight?
I disagree with the above statement. The cars weight is listed somewhere...the buildsheet. It tells the shipping weight of the front and the rear. Add them together and you have the weight of the car. Look in the bottom right corner of my sheet below.

Re: Car weight?
I weighed my '86 t-top auto, with me in it and a half tank of gas, it was 3680lbs. I weigh around 160, but the car has aluminum heads and a fiberglass hood, so my body helped to cancel out the lighter parts.

Well ok the buildsheet
--if it's still there.
Where are some locations to look for that anyways?

Re: Car weight?
I weighed my '85 Z28 with an L89/700r4 and T-tops on a truck scale and it came in at 3650 lbs. Of course that's been rounded off but that was with both me and my girlfriend in the car, 3/4 tank of gas, and a backseat delete, A/C delete, and AIR delete. Take away 300lbs for the occupants and my car weighs approximately 3350lbs. Not bad, I think.

Re: Car weight?
That way is pretty close, but the only real way to tell is to weigh the car.
My GVWR is 4281 Lbs -- Subtracting the capacity of 701 Lbs gives me 3560 Lbs.
I weighed my car using government scales. It weighs 3658 Lbs empty with 1/2 tank of gas (My car is 100% stock).
So the difference between the actual weight and the weights indicated on the door sticker is 3658 - 3560 = 98
So, my car is almost 100 Lbs heavier than the door stickers indicate.

Re: Car weight?
the only real way to tell is to use the scales at the track, or the certified cat scales at a truck stop. if you have a scrap yard in the area they might be able to weigh you car also. that is the only real way to tell, i've never seen stickers or anything else come close.
