Finding build sheets

Anyone know of any common places within inside the car where the build sheets might be found?

Re: Finding build sheets

Found what I believe to my build sheet behind the passenger door panel. Here's a link to the thread, with a scan copy of mine.

I found one in my '84 T/A under the left side rear seat cushion. In later 3rd-gens I have found them in the front seats

That isn't your build sheet...Not sure what that is. Some codes look to be RPO's other codes look like they correspond to certain parts in the vehicle. First place I would look is under the seats. I found mine under my drivers seat. That seems to be the most common place.

Re: Finding build sheets

Of all my cars (always GM), I've only found one actual build sheet, plus a few that looked like the one Dave found. They were all under the rear seat or behind the passenger door panel.

Yeah, I kind of had my doubts. I've seen photos of other people's build sheets they've found, and its totally different. Its still pretty cool to have though. I plan to refurbish my interior this winter if I have the extra cash and I'll definately be on the lookout for it. I'm kind of anxious to find it so I can get a build date for my car.

Does anyone have any idea what it is that I found?

Re: Finding build sheets

They can be under the carpet, I have seen them under the front passenger seet area, and in the rear hatch area. I have heard of them in the seat springs, under the back seats...

I would guess tHere is a 30% chance its there.

Re: Finding build sheets

Has anybody ever found one on top of the gas tank? That is where one usually is on Van Nuys built 1st and 2nd-gens but I have never dropped the gas tank on a 3rd-gen to see if that still holds true for that generation.

I thought someone mentioned that a couple months ago, during a winter project.

Re: Finding build sheets

I found the build sheet in my 89 Pace Car under the rear cargo carpet - centered in the lowest spot stuck in the big puddle of carpet glue they put there! -Managed to get it out by heating the glue with a hair dryer - only mild ripping.

I bought my 88 Formula 350 with the build sheet in pristine shape in an album. Not sure where the first owner found it.

I found mine under the front drivers seat. Took the drivers seat out after I was was messing around with the car and felt paper, and there it was. when I got it out it fell into about 6 pieces, but still very much readable.
