Does anyone know the paint code for the blue used in 1985. I would like to paint my 1986 bird the same color as my old 85. It looks like the 86 metalic blue but lighter. I cannot find a paint chart on the web to verify the color. Thanks for any help

My books show two codes for that 1985 Blue: a 30E and a 30W. The WA number for the "E" was 8587 and the WA number for the "W" was 8604.

I'll try to post this color chart of 1985 GM blues.

 

Trans Am blues for 85 were 30 Bright Blue Metallic and 26 Dark Blue, here is the Bright Blue, I scanned it but it didnt capture the full effect. Since I was getting stupid with the scanner I added the stripe option for the base bird.

 

was wondering what the dark blue looks like. i've got a hood from a 85 TA on my car, and its like a dark blue metallic. looks awesome, but not sure if its a factory origonal color.

 

Not on an '85. From what I've read dark blue metallic was color option for 82 up to a certain year (I can't remember, 89 perhaps) EXCEPT in '85 where only dark blue (non mettallic) was offered.

 

I used to own a '85 T/A that started out dark blue, but the idiot that had the car before me painted it teal green . The only place on the car where I could see the blue was under the hood. Honestly, I don't remember if it was metallic or not. Personally my favorite is the medium blue metallic w/ silver GFX.
