Let me know if this car is worth $9K for you. First of all its worth it to me, just want to get folks honest opinion.
Dont be shy, trust me you will NOT hurt my feelings. I like the car I just want to get your 2 cents.
Car is a 1983 Z28 LG4, auto T-tops 18K original miles!!!
Power everything, cruise, tilt, anolog clock on center console AND rear window wiper.
It won silver at the 2004 VetteFest in Chicago and bronze in 2003 (same show).
I had the dealer put it on a lift, it has ZERO rust and runs great.
And now the pics...

Nice car. Worth in the case of 3rd gen Fbody's has such a varying meaning since it is based on each individual. Your chances of finding another 1983 with that kind of mileage is not real good. So that makes it worth more simply because there are a limited number out there.
I know when I was looking to buy my GTA I was willing to pay double what NADA and Kelly blue book said the cars value was for the "Right GTA". This was simply because to me the cars were undervalued by these leading car value publications. Now to someone else I'm just another sucker and that okay by me. The car has more value to me than just its potential monetary value.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is if you like the car and its everything you've been looking for than of course it worth the asking price to you no matter what anyone else might say. Plus as the years pass it should retain its value simply because of its condition and mileage.

If it's worth it to you, then there's no point in asking an opinion.

However, it appears it's at some kind of used car dealer? And if so, I doubt there's any way on the planet earth they even paid $4K-$5K for the car. If they got it on a trade-in, they gave the person the bare minimum KBB/NADA trade-in value for the car. If they got it at an auction, they paid a fraction of that price.
Personally if I was interested in that really clean, low-mileage, unmolested 3rd gen, I would "negotiate" by laughing in their face, walk out, do whatever, then come back with $5K in cash. If you've already negotiated a $9K price, come back and say, "Sorry, I just can't do it. It's too much for that kind of car" and see if they start backing down on the price.
I'll bet you are the only person who has even shown interest in the car. The average person, i.e. not a car enthusiast, would rather spend that kind of money on a newer car that gets good gas mileage. If it is just an average used car lot, they will be looking to move the car as quick as they can.

1. I like the car!
2. I have a white 89 TTA Pace Car that turned 18k Sunday and an 88 Formula 350 with 22k - so I'm partial to white thirdgens!
3. I paid 16,400 for my TTA 4 years ago - probably worth 20ish now but it obviously is a very limited edition car and one of the few thirdgens people can agree on re: collectibility.
4. I pad $9,500 for my Formula about 2 years ago. I probably overpaid for it but it was a very clean one owner car with full docs.
5. I bought both because I like them but only the TTA was probably "worth it," at least for now.
6. I think you should be able to get that Z for under 10 or 9 in which case it would probably be "fair." More than that and it's probably not the best deal but....if you like it....
7. It will appreciate but, given it is a straight Z28, it will take more time and it might never hit true collector range.
Since I did what you're thinking....I can't tell you no!!

Re: Another white 83Z28
I agree with some of the other guys you should be able to talk that price down a bit more. But that car does look darn near perfect. My son (and I) have the '82 Z-28 from the Engine Swap thread. It doesn't look quite as good as the one you're showing here and we've been offered nearly that much for it on a couple of occassions. Personally, the 82-84 is MY favorite of the third Gen Camaros.
Buy it......BEFORE I DO!

Kurt

No doubt the car is super clean!!! Gosh i thought my Formula with 51k was low miles lol. As long as the car is worth 9k in your opinion is really all that counts, personally I dont think i would spend that kind of money on a LG4 car though.

I've been drooling over that car over the internet for the last few weeks. Is it worth $9K? I say, hell yes.
I just picked up a CFI clone of that car, Sunday, in Wisconsin. Lots more miles (96K), and NOWHERE near as nice as that one.

Nice find.

Holy crap! That car is suh-weet! If it had a LU5 and the "camaro camaro" upholstery in it, that would be my exact car. I just wish my mine was in that condition. Does it have the rear defogger too?
Awesome find, my man. I would definitely give 9k for that car if I had it. I just found a new desktop picture.
One thing though... are you sure it's a Z28? I thought all the Z28s that year had LU5s early in the year and L69s later on. Does anyone know for sure?

The LG4 was standard. The LU5 was optional, and later in the year, so was the L69.

Re: Another white 83Z28
Oh, I see. That's pathetic- a "performance car" with 150 HP. Of course my 178 isn't much better. It's a shame that the best looking third gens were the slowest from the factory. Thank god for mods.
I'm assuming you're going to keep the car original, lopedawg? It's the only logical thing to do with that mileage. It's too bad though. People would underestimate that car so bad if it had a hot 383 or LS1 in it. It would look too original to be modded. Then of course you'd blow by them and they'd be saying "what the hell?!"

It's really gonna be sad when there's no more gas to run these sweet machines. Then all they'll do is sit in the garage and bring back old memories. Hooray for the death rattle of the American V8! Get out there and cruise while you still can, boys.

Oh it will stay stock for sure, otherwise why pay the price. Yeah its a 5.slow but its still real nice looking and there are few thirdgens out there in this condition. I look at it as a personal mission to change the way people look at our cars.
As far as value, I just wanted to get peoples opinion, personally its worth it to me because of the milage, and condition but most inportantly because its something I alwas wanted.
I have a 92 Firebird that will get a bit of power later on down the road, for now I have to figure out just exactly how much its going to cost me to put in an entire new floor pan and trunk for it.

She is a beauty and with very low mileage and rare options in excellent condition. That is a very nice find and one you'll enjoy crusing in though I'm sure you'll want to keep the mileage as low as possible. You could have negotiated more with the dealer IMHO but if you're happy with the deal as stated before is what counts.
Along with the uncommon rear window wiper(RPO-C25 10,900 produced all models for '83) does she have rear disc brakes and non funtional version of the fiberglass hood or the steel one?White (Code 11) was the most popular Camaro color for '83 just edging out red.I love my '83 LU5 Z28 and the '82-'84 look in general.

Thanks, unfortunately no, it does not have rear disk brakes, as for the hood I have to check. Wont take delivery untill mid to late next week, at wich point I'll look up all the RPO codes.
I'm a big fan of the 82-84 model years for Camaros and 91-92 for Firebirds myself though it would be nice to have a TPI Iroc-Z...... maybe nextime.

One just like it was bid up to $13,000 or so at auction recently (see the June issue of Hemming's Muscle Machines) and was a no sale. I believe it was also an 83 with similar miles. That should say something about the value.

Make sure that wiper came from the factory.
My 83Z has been garage kept and near perfect, has 26k miles and almost fully loaded and has the whiper and I paid 12,500 for mine with a 2 stage nitrous BBC in it.
----------

There is a local CLEAN 84 Z runing around with low miles, only other clean early third gen I have seen around here. Hard to find for sure.
