i have a 86 black t/a with 15 inch aluminum wheels not the crosslaced but the slotted type
1. i was lookin at my ground effects and i noticed where some is scratched off underneath there is like a redish color is this factory primer or plastic color?
2. i was wondering which cars came with the pontiac letters on the one headlight becasue mine has none i thought all t/a had them
3. were the 15 inch slotted type wheels just another wheel made for the t/a because i thought most had the crosslaced gold or black wheels
thanx

Re: 86 T/A questions
1. The plastic is yellowish and the primer should have been gray.
2. Its probably been removed. Mine was too, but you could see where it was.
3. Those are the base wheels. In 86 if you had the WS6 you got the convex slotted wheels or possibly late in the year you could end up with the crosslaced wheels.

Just about everything was an option on the Trans Am, the base engine was the LG4, and the Ground effects were standard. Basically you could build up your car from there. Not like the GTA where everything was standard starting in 1988... ( to define: 1987 GTA's were an option package for the TA, starting in 1988 the GTA was marketed as its own model and were more or less loaded)
The T/A however was available as a bare minimum vehicle new, you could get AC delete, Radio delete, Crank windows, manual locks etc. AFAIK from 1982 thru 1992.

Not really the shaft...
Keep in mind all those luxury items gain weight... I like my creature comforts but they slow you down...
Heck I know of people who look for those bare bones Cars with the hottest engine for a particular year...

the 85-90 T/A's with the F41 suspension got the 15" wheels from the factory.

My 86 T/A is almost bare bones as could be done (LG4,auto) It has the f-41 suspension, 15 in wheels, the only thing that was added was A/C other than that its basic power nothing.
