where is the rpo code located in a camaro?

 

In the center console or the rear glove box in hatch depending on year.

 

its a 85

 

In the center console compartment.

 

I am new at Trans Am ownership. I bought a 1986 with a 305 quadrajet 4 bbl and 39,000 miles on it.

I looked for the RPO code in the glove box and it is not there, didn't see it on the doors or in the rear area either. Any other place it would be?

The car is like new condition and all the other labels seem to be there, it was a 1 owner.

look on the drivers side onn the back hatch area, right behind the tail lights.

1984 - mid 1991 Center console
mid 1991 - 1992 (Except verts) rear console
1991 - 1992 VERTS - Center console...

Thanks, but where on the center console? I looked inside and nothing, and no marks like there was one on the bottom of the door or on the inside walls.

Is there a printed sheet under one of the seats in Trans Am's?

Open the center console lid, remove the cassette holder (if equipped) and you should see the white and black sticker stuck to the inside wall on the right (passenger) side.

As far as printed sheet, some cars have a "build sheet" which would contain a list of RPO codes, the dealership information that ordered the vehicle, etc. But those can be placed literally anywhere in a given car - if it's even inside the car. It could have been removed or discarded.

 

MANY MANY of them peal off, so someeone more than likely removed it if it was pealing off...

Can't you take you VIN info to a Chevy dealer and have them pull up the build codes for your car?

 

Working in a Pontiac, Buick and GMC dealer bodyshop, I used to find build sheets rolled up and shoved inside the front frame rails when I removed the impact bar for repairs. But even then they were starting to weather and fall apart.

 

Any funny places on an F-body... I have read where owners have found them in the front bumper support...
