Hey Fellas, I am new here 1st post. I have had several IROCs before & am in the market for another but found a pretty good deal on a 1988 GTA 5.7 auto hardtop, guy has spent a bunch of $$$ on it & needs to sell it so the price is right. Question is, how to make sure it IS a REAL GTA. I printed out the RPO list to take with me when I go to look at it again but is there a VIN check to make sure what it is? Clues, it HAD the radio controls in the wheel, I looked at the rear end the other day & didn't pay alot of attention (rear disc)but on the way home I though, "that wasn't a 10 bolt, it was a BW 9 bolt". I have to make sure of that though. It is TPI what is the VIN # for the TPI 350?

look for the y84 RPO code

 

you also might want to look at the obvious make sure there are no vent in the fenders, also look for the sticker on the underside of the hood for the eng specks, (GTA do not have TBI) thats if it has not been changed.

 

Thanks. I think it has had a hood replaced before. Where is the RPO code decal at on the Pontiac, console lid or spare cover?

 

it is in the console not on the lid but stuck to the right side

 

Car also has the flat firebird wing, shouldn't it have the long wing?? aero wing?

 

It should have the aero spoiler.
