ARE HARDTOPS RARE TO FIND??

It seems like T-Tops were a very popular option for 3rd gens. We all know convertibles are rare. BUT where do hard tops come in? Are they becoming rare to find? My 89 is a hard top even though I wanted t-tops. My IROC just had all the other options I wanted, so I couldnt pass on it!!!

Re: ARE HARDTOPS RARE TO FIND??

I agree, not rare, maybe with some combination of options, but to some more desireable.
For example, performance enthusiasts. I've seen t-tops converted to hardtops, for circle track racing.

I like hard top cars better, but when your looking to buy something it seems that you never find what you looking for.

Re: ARE HARDTOPS RARE TO FIND??

Yea i had a t-top car for about two weeks. I didnt like it as much as i thought i would. Not the reason i sold it. The reason was i found a hard top IROC that i fell in love with. I dont think ill own another T-top car but i might surprise myself.

The fact that you had to settle for a hard top when you wanted t-tops is an indicator that hard tops are anything but rare, at time of manufacture or now.

Re: ARE HARDTOPS RARE TO FIND??

I bought a hard top, because I learned from one of my other cars (had a targa top) that open top cars are worthless from a performance standpoint. You get a lot less rigidity, a bit more weight, and you end up spending more money in the end to make it equivalent to the hard top version of the car.

Hitting bumps made me just cringe, felt like the car was going to snap in half and that's a bad feeling.

new yorkan? And what is now understandable? If you're suggesting that New Yorkers are jerks, then Los Angelesianers don't have the greatest reputation for being friendly either.

"wussy t's" ... lol. That's a sure fire way to insult half of the members of this site that own t-top cars. I bet you wanted t-tops when you searched for a thirdgen, but you just fell in love with your "rockie"... which is just realized is probably a nickname you probably created based off if the name "IROC"... ughhhhhh.
