RPO code Y06

I have just recently purchased a 1984 Z28, and I was decoding the RPO's and came across Y06, which told me ring gear, 9.50 in Saginaw (SPO). Can anybody out there tell me what that is????? I've been collecting f bodys now for 3 yrs, and have never even heard of it. I would appreciate the help. Thanks 1990rsvert

Are you sure? A 9-1/2" ring gear? Stock? In an F-body?

Re: RPO code Y06

I'm sure the description refers to the differential. I'm not sure the rpo decoder is correct.

So the decoder is wrong? All I need to know is what is it?

Re: RPO code Y06

I believe it refers to the panel down by your feet. Is yours carpeted?

Yes, they are carpeted. But the camaro white book calls that a different code. Has nobody else out there had this code??????

I also have the Y06 code on my 1984 Trans Am. I am seeing conflicts as well. The TGO RPO decoder has the Y06 as indicated previously as the rear ring gear. WildJeff did a decode that was well done (still some issues but otherwise well done) for the early third gen birds and he has it as the carpeted kick panels. I included two photos of my car with the kick panels in view. I am suspecting the RPO decoder might be wrong it also doesn't have all the codes either.

Because I plan on taking my car to the Hershey fall meet this year I decided to get the documentation for it. I am waiting to recieve my packet from the PHS. That might settle the debate once and for all unless someone already has it figured out.
