A Little Help Finding Out Some History On My Car...
I would like to know a little further history on my vehicle.
Things like previous owners, any and all incidents (The CarFax report I ran on it when I bought it indicated a superficial accident), and just places It's been and things It's seen in general. The more I own the car, the more I find out about it and it just makes me want to see it as the day it rolled off the lot and what It's been through.
Perfect example was the other day at the shop we had it up on a lift replacing the spark plug wires. Now the entire time I've owned the car (A year now) I've believed It's current colors to be original. I know that it had been repainted but you can tell the original paint was also white. I thought that the gold stripes, rims and trim were original also but I noticed underneath the car on the back bumper the gold is starting to peel in a couple areas and It's a burgundy red underneath, which now leads me to believe the rims and strips were also not the original color.
Something else I would also like to know are the ORIGINAL RPO codes. When I first got the car, I STUPIDLY and absentmindedly threw the original stick away, and now the one in the car is out of a different vehicle (The original console lid was going south). I don't remember any of the codes, but I do remember that the sheet was LOADED! About 3/4 of it was covered in codes. I contacted GM asking them for the build material data sheet but they said on cars that old they don't have them in the system anymore and the only way to find it would be to "Dig through archives", which would run about $160
Anyone have any pointers for me?

Yea, spend the $160. If you're really that curious, as I would be, then you should just bite-the-bullet and call it a $160 lesson learned not to throw **** away.

seems a bit much for a search of the VIN and build codes. PHS does it for Firebirds for 50. Do you have the build sheet anywhere?

Their cut off changes every year I think. They will do up to 1988. But not for a Camaro naturally. At first I put down the PHS for FireDemon but I didn't notice he had a camaro hence the edit. In short if you are looking for one for your TA then they will do it for 50 bucks, and you can get window stickers as well I paid 38 bucks for a laminated one. You won't get all the owner history though. They give you the RPO codes for the optional equipment and group options. You won't see every single RPO code on the sheet.
