Newby here with 85 ta ?

Just wanted to say Hi and post a couple of pictures of my very first F body. I have a couple of mid 60's pontiac convertibles and a 69 goat vert. I remember test driving the TA when they were new in 85. Since Gm would not put a 5 speed with the tpi I bought the 5.0 mustang with the 5 speed. Now 24 years later I have a TA. It needs a lot of work and I have zero knowledge so please be patient with my questions.
It would appear to me that someone had installed GTA wheels? Also on the inner fender brace the part number seems to have a 92 for date code.
Is it possible the front clip was replaced with a GTA clip. Are they the same?
If I am posting this in the wrong place, please direct me to the correct forum.
thanks
patrick

Wow, it looks like that car was pretty exspensive when it was new. It even has the pricey Lear Siegler multi-adjustable seats!

I'd say one of the previous owners tried to make it look like a GTA. The crosslace 16"x8" rims didn't come out until mid-year '86 and the first year for the GTA model was '87.

The GTA didn't use front fenders with the air extractor vents so mostly likely the fenders are original and the GTA badges were added.

Well you know at least the nose was replaced, probably due to an accident so that would most likely explain the fender brace as well. Those arn't the correct wheels but they look good on it. They did make tpi cars with 5-speeds but only 305's (LB9) and not in 85. Front end looks like a 90 or earlier. Looks like a good project
