There is a listing on eBay selling a "rare" OEM Firebird Dash Pad with Original Alarm Light Socket. Has anyone ever heard of this?

If the light in that location is "original" i've certainly never seen or heard of it before. Unless someone proves otherwise, I say b.s.okfoz

This is a first for an "Alarm Light." However, apparently Canada mandated a sensor to be placed on the dash for daytime running lights in 1990. I suspect this is what it was originally intended for.
