I noticed today that my 1992 Z28 vert left the ASC factory in July of 1992. Anyone know when the new 1993 forth gen appeared at the dealers? With my car leaving ASC in July, I don't see how it could have been at the dealer before August. Must have been special order, because it appears to definitely be an overlap with the new forth gens already being built, maybe even after the forth gens were already being delivered and sold. Anyone know how to find out if it could be "the last" third gen z28 vert built? That would be neat! I called ASC and they could tell me nothing.

 

I dont think so. A fellow member here has the last z28 hardtop but it could be possible. My Rs was made in july 1992 also and I'm like a couple of days away from the end of production.

 

Do you know what date actual 3rd gen production ended? My car shows a build date of May at GM then was shipped to ASC, but ASC didn't finish the conversion until July. Definitely not the last third gen z28 built, but with only 1254 convertibles built in 92, I figured it had to be one of the last 3rd gen convertibles built by ASC. Thanks for the reply, my car is in paint shop too. It's gunna be a long 3 weeks till the spot in the garage is filled again. Could put one of my other eight cars in there though....wow, I gotta trim out my cars, but can't bring myself to get rid of some

 

Here is what I would do...
Take your VIN

1G1FP33F?ML1?????

Here is what you know...
1) The ONLY engine available in the '92 Z28 Vert was the LB9
2) The LB9 was NA in the RS (Vert)

Take the vin and start calculating the check digit, write a simple program it will save you time. Using Carfax & Autocheck, start going through Vins one at a time to see if you come up with anything after your VIN.

I suspect you will find some after your car, but you never know. Apparently they quit making Z28's the last few weeks of production, with the exception of Leonard's Last Z28 Heritage. VIN 170008

Kewl...but how do I calculate the check digit? Just start with 0 and go thru 9? I'm sure I'll find some after mine because my car left GM in May. I think the records I really need is ASC's, but not sure. Thanks for your input....John

 

The last Z28 'vert built was VIN# NL168820. I'll give you more specifics on the car later when I get home from work.

Was not able to retrieve any dealer info, delivery date info, or any warranty claim info on this car. Build date was 8-21-92. It was a white Z03 car with grey custom cloth interior. been keeping up with this one, wish i could help somehow, but it sure would be cool just to be on the same website as the guy with the last 3rd gen....

did we ever come to a conclusion on anyone on here having the first 3rd gen?

 

I think it was used as a night rider car for the first shows. Lemme find that thread somewhere around here.

 

Thanks for the help John.....according to my VIN, NL157715, my car is probably no where close to the last one. My car was purchased in late Aug of 92, so third gens must have been delivered deep into Sept or Oct of 92. Thanks again for you help and knowledge....JohnnyT
